Assessment of Radiation Dose Reduction in Digital Intraoral Radiography Using Adaptive Exposure Techniques

Dr. Priya Nair, Dr. Vikram Singh

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, ABC Dental Hospital, New Delhi, India

Abstract

Minimizing radiation exposure without compromising image quality is essential in dental radiology. This study assessed the effectiveness of adaptive exposure techniques in digital intraoral radiography. One hundred patients underwent standard and reduced-exposure imaging protocols. Image quality was evaluated using a standardized scoring system. Results indicated a 35% reduction in radiation dose while maintaining diagnostic acceptability for caries and periodontal evaluation. Adoption of adaptive exposure protocols can significantly improve patient safety in routine dental practice.
