Evaluation of Bone Density Changes in Osteoporotic Patients Using CBCT Gray Value Analysis

Dr. Ritu Malhotra, Dr. Karan Patel

Department of Oral Radiology, DEF Dental College, Chennai, India

Abstract

Bone density assessment is vital for patients at risk of osteoporosis. This study evaluated CBCT gray values as a potential non-invasive indicator of mandibular bone density. Forty osteoporotic patients and forty age-matched controls underwent CBCT scans. Gray value analysis revealed significantly lower mandibular bone density in osteoporotic patients, correlating with systemic bone mineral density measurements. CBCT gray value analysis may serve as an adjunct tool for early osteoporosis screening in dental settings.
