Abstract

Objective: To evaluate diagnostic image quality and radiation dose in low-dose CT angiography protocols for pediatric congenital heart disease.

Methods: Sixty children underwent CT angiography with iterative reconstruction and automatic exposure control. Objective image noise, subjective quality scores, and effective dose were analyzed.

Results: Mean radiation dose was reduced by 48% compared with standard protocols, with no significant reduction in diagnostic quality (mean quality score 4.6/5).

Conclusion: Low-dose CT angiography with iterative reconstruction achieves substantial dose reduction while maintaining excellent diagnostic performance in pediatric congenital heart disease evaluation.

Keywords: Pediatric radiology, CT angiography, radiation dose, congenital heart disease
